Privacy
Draft for review before public launch. Not legal advice.
Woofgrove works without an account, on the website and in the iPhone and Android apps. Progress and settings are stored on your device (in your browser, or in the app).
What we store
- Guests: when you open a ranked daily game we create an anonymous session so the server can time it. We store the game attempt and your result.
- Accounts (optional): if you sign in with Google, Apple or an email address and password, we receive your account ID and email from Firebase Authentication (with Apple you may choose a private relay address). An email account is confirmed with a link we send to that address. We store the name and country you choose to show on leaderboards, your stars and treats, and your daily results.
- Gameplay and fair play: for daily games we store each move you make, when you made it, and how long each try took by our server's clock and by your device. We use this to compute your score and to detect cheating (for example automated solving or results that are not humanly possible). Some of this data is never shown in the game.
- Level progress: the stars you earn on each level are kept on your device and, while you have a session (as a guest or signed in), with your account so they follow you to other devices.
- Feedback: if you send feedback (from the game or a test page), we store your rating, your comment and that game's numbers (level, time, mistakes, hints). It is not linked to your account. Please don't include personal details in comments.
- Usage statistics (website only, and only if you allow them): the website asks once whether to count your visits with anonymous usage stats (PostHog). If you allow it, we record pages and game events such as starting or finishing a level, hints used and time taken, with an anonymous ID stored in your browser; a signed-in account is linked by its ID only, never its email. If you decline, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is stored on your device and visits are only counted without an ID. You can change your answer any time in Settings. No session recording.
- Crash reports: when the game hits an error we send a technical report (the error, app version, device type and operating system) to Sentry, and for a small share of requests how long they took. Reports carry no name, email or account details.
- Operations: standard server logs (time, path, errors) kept for security and debugging.
What we don't do
No advertising, no tracking pixels, no sale of data. Your email is never shown publicly. The cheering voice and finish messages are pre-recorded and play on your device; we don't record your voice or anything around you.
Children and young players
Before offering an account, Woofgrove asks how old you are; the answer stays on your device. Players under 13 can play every level and the daily challenge as guests, but cannot make an account, and the website's usage statistics stay off for them. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you think a child under 13 has made an account, email us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can change your public name, sign out, or delete your account and everything kept about it, in the game (Account → Delete my account) or by email. If you signed in with Apple, deleting also revokes the game's access to your Apple ID. Signing out removes your progress from that device (it stays in your account). To ask what we keep about you, or to correct it, email hello@craftoftech.com.
